The Difference Between an Inverter A/C and a Non-Inverter AC

However, with two main types of air conditioning systems to choose from, an inverter A/C and a non-inverter AC, how do you decide which one is best suited for you? Both have advantages and disadvantages, so here’s a look at the differences between an inverter A/C and a non-inverter AC and which system would suit you better.

Non-inverter AC

These are the most commonly found air conditioning units in the market. When it comes to the compressor, it basically works on an all or nothing principle. The non-inverter system operates by simply switching on or off to control the room temperature. The motor controls the compressor as per needed. A constant amount of energy is delivered to the compressor which causes it to run at a fixed speed.

Noisy operation

The non-inverter unit will turn on and off any time it has reach a certain temperature that is considered to be the limit. Because of this, as the compressor starts and stops to maintain reach the required temperature, the unit works harder and produces a lot of noise. This in turn causes plenty of wear and tear to the system.

Less costly

Due to their wide availability, buying a new a non-inverter air conditioner is significantly less costly as opposed to an inverter air conditioner. However, installing the unit might cost a bit more the inverter air conditioner. If new parts are needed for replacement down the line, it’s much easier and more affordable to find and buy spare parts for a non-inverter unit.

The Inverter air conditioners are in most cases noiseless, due to a variable speed compressor rather than a fixed speed. The variable speeds stops the compressor from working at full power, instead a censor constantly regulates the power according to the temperature in the room.

Because of the variable speed, the inverter unit is more energy efficient and also more economical. The censor adjusts the power according to temperature instead of running on full speed like the non-inverter, which results in less electrical consumption and energy savings.

Near soundless operation

The inverter air conditioner is near soundless in comparison with the non-inverter unit since it doesn’t automatically turn on and off every time the unit reaches the temperature limits. Additionally, this reduces the wear and tear of the unit making it last longer.

Faster cooling

An inverter air conditioner can cool the room faster than a non-inverter. This is achieved by the inverter using more power than the non-inverter and then reducing the power as it gets close to the desired temperature.

These are the basic difference between the two systems but before running out to buy one, you also need to factor in the size of your room, the amount of times the air conditioner will be used and which one fits into your budget.
